I know what you want!
You want the step by step bulletproof how-to guide to dropping off the pounds, toning up, feeling like yourself again, and be more comfortable and confident in your skin.
And I have that for you... Believe me when I tell you I do, but I'm not giving that to you right here, right now, today, because we both know that you are not going to do it unless we talk about what is getting in your way first.
First, I want to walk through the 5 things that are holding you back, that are getting in your way from real lasting weight loss.
#1 too much information
The overabundance of shoulds and information out there, what you're seeing in your newsfeed, what comes up on Google, what your neighbor is doing, what your sisters are doing, whatever you did before you have kids. Bottom Line: there are so many things you think you should be doing, that you don't know where to start.
What happens is, you don't start or you start something but then you have shiny object syndrome and you don't follow through on the thing that you started, because this other thing looks like it might work and you end up going in circles that way.
#2 Being afraid to fail
You are afraid to “fail” and you quit when you do. Failure or bad days, mess ups or missed workouts, or poor eating is a part of the process. It is going to happen!
Instead of feeling like a failure or quitting when it happened, you need to take a step back, you need to put on your investigator glasses and let's think about “what happened”.
Was there something you could have done or can do in the future to set yourself up for better success? Every “failure” should be a learning experience because that is how you grow, that is how you get stronger, and that is how you create lasting change.
Failure, in essence, is a good thing because that's how you learn and grow.
#3 Waiting for the Perfect time
Waiting for the perfect time to start. The “I'll start on Monday syndrome” right!?!? Like I'll start next Monday, after next week, I'll start next month, I'll start when the kids go back to school, I'll start when, I'll start when, I'll start when?!?
In your head, there is always another time other than now that it's going to be perfect, but real life is messy, we talked about it in number 2. Life is messy and there's never going to be a perfect time to start.
So if you're waiting for that perfect time, you’re never going to start and if by some chance that perfect time does come around and you start something, and then life gets messy than what? Just start now!
#4 The all or nothing Mentality
The “All or Nothing mentality”, all the “shoulds” things that you “should” be doing, and all the perfect plans that you “should” be following, and you are just not feeling like you have the time or energy to do any of that so...nothing it is!
There is a happy medium, there is something that will work with your life, you just need to take a step back and be reasonable about what that thing is. Something is always better than nothing! You can’t get in a 30 minute workout, can you get in 10 minutes?
You can't plan these big perfect well-rounded meals that you see on Pinterest, can you work on getting protein in with each of your meals? Take a step back, something is better than nothing.
What can you do today to get you moving forward? When the shit hits the fan, when you have those bad days maybe you can't do exactly what the plan says, it doesn't mean you fail, what can you do?
What are your non-negotiables, as I call them?
For me there's staying hydrated, focusing on protein and move my body for at least 15 minutes. It does not have to be a specified workout, it doesn’t have to be anything specific I could just walk in circles in my house for 10 minutes. Just something.
#5 Temporary Mindset
This one really should be number one, but I'm saving the best for last.
The biggest thing holding you back from real lasting weight loss is the idea that you can’t change the way you look and change the way you feel without changing the way that you live; it's not going to happen! It doesn't work that way!

I'm not saying that you have to be following a diet or be perfect for every day of your life for the rest of your life. It's the things that you do daily and regularly, long-term that really lead to lasting change.
So, when you're considering following a plan, when you considering starting, look at what you can do, what will work with your life, because there's never going to be an end to this. I hate to break it to you but there's never going to be a day that you're done and you go back to living the way that you were without going back to the way that you felt.
And finding that thing, that thing that works with your life, your crazy mom life, when you're tired, when you're busy, that is my specialty, that is my jam, that is what I teach my mom's to do.
