Just a few years ago, as a new mom and a full time high school science teacher, I was struggling with taking care of my body. Even though I was a certified personal trainer and knew what needed to be done, I was overwhelmed.  

I didn’t know how to make it work with my life.

I came home from work exhausted, ate out a ton, and by the time I had my son in bed, I just sank into the couch for the rest of the night. I wasn’t working out like I should and I wasn’t eating healthy. Meal plans overwhelmed me. I didn’t have time or energy for a follow complicated recipes.  


Over and over again I would put a plan together, tell myself I was going to go to the gym after school 3 days a week, finally plan my meals, and get my sh*t together.  By Tuesday that dread and inevitable hopelessness set in, that overwhelming feeling that I couldn’t do it all, and I would quit.

I'd continue on the same path for another month or so and then start the same cycle over and over again. I was so unhappy with myself.  

Enough was enough.


I finally buckled down and figured out how to make it work with my life. I spent my time studying, designing, and trying out the most efficient workouts, simplifying healthy eating plans, and getting really excited to help myself and others!

​Since then I’ve regained the strong physique and healthy lifestyle I had been missing.

FAQs

Q - How does this fit in with the LWC Challenge?
The Body After Baby program builds on everything you learned in the challenge and takes it one, or a few steps further.

On the nutrition side, we will build from the Balanced Meal Cheat Sheet to custom nutrition goals. We 
will tailor it specifically to work with your workout regime to knock off those extra pounds (if that's your goal) and build lean muscle. You will begin to truly understand how what you eat affects your goals so you can make informed choices yourself. 

On the workout side, some of the Muscle Makers with be replaced with slower, more deliberate strength workouts (including weights and bands) to take your strength, muscle tone and posture to the next level. The workouts are designed specifically for moms with focus on strengthening your core, improving your posture, and building muscle all while burning calories and firing up your metabolism.


Finally, this is program is personalized to YOU and your needs. We use your own strengths, weaknesses and internal motivators to tailor your program to you. If somethings not working, we will work together to troubleshoot and figure out exactly what you need to get results and get results that last.


Q - I don't have a lot of time, do you think I can do this?
I know you're busy, I am too!  That exactly what this program is design for! The required workouts take only 15-30 minutes per day. No fancy recipes, just simple nutrition with lots of ideas for eating on the go!

Q - I had my baby years ago - can I join?
Yes! Postnatal is forever – so even if you had kids a few years ago, the plan will target your trouble spots and help you get back into fabulous shape quickly.  In fact you don't even need to be a mom! While this program is designed with the specific needs of moms in mind and most of the women in the group are moms, this program will work for all busy women!  The mom-specificness (yes, I just made that word up) of the workouts, comes in with the focus on rebuilding deep core stabilizers and all the stability muscles around your joints to combat the effects of pregnancy including the hormone relaxin in your system.  The truth is though, EVERYONE needs more stability training in their lives for improved efficiency and reduced rate of injury.

Q - I eat on the go a lot so I've never been able to follow a meal plan.  Will this work for me?
Yes!  This nutrition side is specifically designed to be tailored to your needs.  You don't have to worry about making specific recipes.  Just follow a simple template, it can work for everyone (even my picky toddler)!

Q - Is this program ok if I'm breastfeeding?
Yes, perfect!  Exercise and proper nutrition are great for breastfeeding moms and their babies!  No low calorie or low carb craziness over here, just balance meals made of real healthy food! You can feed your whole family this way too. No special meals just for mom!

Q - What equipment do I need?
All of the workouts are designed to be done in your own home with little equipment.  You will need a set (or two) of dumbbells, a resistance band with a door anchor (you can actually make an anchor out of a sock - I know you have a bunch laying around with out a matching partner), and a stability ball.  Occasionally you might be asked to use other things around your house like a towel, chair, or stool.  I will walk you through getting what you need, but if it helps check out this blog post to see how to pick your equipment.

Q - How soon after birth can I start?
I always recommend speaking to your doc before exercising.  However, 6 weeks post partum is usually a safe starting point (10 weeks for cesarean). If you have no bleeding, pain or other complications, you can start this program and take it at your own pace.  If you aren't there yet, go for walks and spend time loving on your baby!  That doesn't last forever and I'm not going anywhere!
